Tempering and lamination serve different functions: the plies are heat-treated before assembly, and the interlayer bonds them into the specified laminate. Coordinate Every Ply Before Heat Treatment

A hole or notch in a laminated assembly must be correctly defined in the individual glass plies. Provide a fully dimensioned drawing with hole centres, cut-out radii and reference edges. Approve the drawing revision before cutting, edging, drilling and tempering; changes afterwards may require new plies.

Lamination and Edge Appearance

After the specified heat treatment, the plies are prepared and bonded using the selected interlayer and process. Discuss alignment, edge finish and any exposed laminate edge. Inspect bubbles, inclusions, edge quality and the agreed appearance, with substrate and sealant compatibility reviewed for the application.

Define Post-Breakage and Structural Requirements

Balustrades, overhead glazing and other uses can place different demands on a laminate. Tempered plies and an interlayer do not by themselves establish residual capacity. The project designer must confirm the build-up, support arrangement and applicable evidence for the intended installation.

Production Planning

Two tempering and two lamination lines support the production route. Workshop planning references include approximately 20–27 tonnes per tempering line per day and about 1–1.5 containers per shift for some laminated orders. These are general references across the order mix; machining, thickness, panel size and packing determine the actual batch schedule.

Export Packing and Identification

Support the finished laminate appropriately and protect polished edges. Identify panel orientation and matching holes on the schedule, and agree separators, crate capacity and lifting access for the panel weight.

The glass plies are specified as tempered before lamination. Ordinary laminated glass may use annealed or other specified glass.

Does 8 + 1.52 + 8 mean 17.52 mm total?

Yes, that is the nominal arithmetic total in millimetres; the full product specification still includes materials and tolerances.

Can holes be added after lamination?

Do not plan routine cutting or drilling of finished tempered laminated panels. Approve all features before tempering the plies.

Is every interlayer suitable for structural balustrades?

No. The designer must select the interlayer and complete assembly for the required performance and exposure.

Can the laminate have exposed polished edges?

Discuss alignment, finish and edge exposure with the application and compatible sealing details before ordering.
